JEANNE STEPHEN ASHMAN

“My world and my studio are an eclectic chaos. Hoping to encourage the mind to be curious, intrigued and inspired, bringing shape and color alive in a way that boosts the spirit. Sharing and challenging what art is and can be.”

Jeanne has always had a creative spirit longing for expression. Throughout her life she usually expressed it through activities as opposed to creating tangible physical works. Soon after relocating from the Washington DC area to Merida Mexico her tangible creativity began to blossom and grow to encompass 3-dimensional sculptural works and various textile media.

She has embraced her new home, making its people and nature not only a source of inspiration but also a resource for much of her materials. She utilizes and recycles much of what surrounds her ranging from indigenous plants to discarded construction waste. Over time she has maintained a focus on reuse and recycling as a source of materials and inspiration.

Locally she has been shown at La Cirque Gallery and displays at Casa de la Bestia.
